Come on In! Tips for Getting the House Ready For Company
The summer months are perfect for inviting people over. Our tips will help you ensure your house is ready for when company knocks at your door.
Summertime. The kids are getting off school, more people are traveling again, and you can expect to have some house guests over in the coming months. But after so long without company, your house may seem a little worse for wear. If you’re in this boat, read our tips for getting the house ready for company.
Have “Designated Spaces”
“Mi casa es su casa.” We mean this expression with all of our hearts when we say it to guests, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have boundaries. For example, you may not want your nieces and nephews playing in the master bedroom. Or you might want company to steer clear of the upstairs toilet. Decide on these boundaries before your company gets to the door, and let them know as soon as they arrive.
Do Some Spring Cleaning
If you know someone well enough to have them over, chances are they won’t judge you too harshly if your home isn’t picture-perfect. But you should still tidy up before company arrives, especially if they’re spending the night. Focus your attention on the designated spaces you chose earlier, with an extra emphasis on the guest bedroom and bathroom.
Stock up on Toiletry Essentials
The last thing you want is to run out of toilet paper in the middle of a party. As you prep your guest bathroom, make sure you load up on the essentials:
- Toilet paper
- Hand soap
- Body wash
Additionally, you’ll want to make sure you’ve done laundry and have plenty of fresh, clean towels, especially if your company is spending the night.
There’s nothing better than having a home full of laughter and love. While getting the house ready for company is a time-consuming and admittedly arduous process, you’ll feel much better knowing you can welcome guests into a clean and inviting home.
