Tips For Feeling Better After The Covid Vaccine

Don't be scared!

A lot of people, myself included, are a little nervous about this new vaccine.  There is a lot of information to sort through. But the overwhelming fact is, the vaccines are safe.  But to be honest, I was a little scared.  So I asked a lot of questions, talked to friends and family who got the shot, and I spoke to my own doctors about the risks.

It's okay to be nervous, but my best tip for how to feel better after getting the shot is to let go of the fear and try to relax.  when you tense your muscles, it actually makes it hurt more.

Take a deep breath and let it out slowly.  The shot doesn't hurt and the side effects are very mild.

What are the most common side effects of the Covid Vaccines?

The biggest complaint that most people have with the Covid Vaccine is the pain in the arm that hurts for a few days. It’s like a tightly clenched muscle that aches.   It’s not terrible, but it isn’t pleasant.

Headaches, sleepiness, and body aches are also common side effects.

What we tried that helped our Covid Vaccine Side Effects:

A minute or so after getting the shot, both my husband and I felt a wave of dizziness, a flushed feeling, and a feeling of being very tired.

Bring plenty of water with you to your appointment and for the next 24 hours, drink as much water as possible.  Plan on taking it easy for the rest of the day, celebrate that you are one step closer to ending this Covid Craziness.

Tylenol or Advil works great for headaches.

The best thing I did for arm pain was a hot CBD and Epsom salt bath!

The best thing I did for arm pain was a warm bath with a CBD bath bomb and Epsom salt.

I love taking baths.  And after I started having some arm pain after my shot, I ran a warm bath and tossed in a CBD bath bomb and a cup of Epsom salt for a relaxing bath. What I discovered a few minutes later was that my arm had stopped entirely hurting, and I actually felt great.

The combination of CBD bath bombs and Epsom salt relieved the inflammation. They relaxed me enough that I was able to move my arm around without any pain.  It was great!

While the side effects are a little unpleasant, I am so thankful to have gotten my shot. It was a great relief.

What else you might want before your shot:

Plan ahead and get your comfy blanket, something for hydration like water or a sports drink, and plan to watch one of those movies you have been wanting to see on Netflix.  Your body is going to be doing some big work and this isn't the time to push it harder than it needs.

Think about getting delivery for dinner, and try to get a good night's sleep. You'll feel better if you let your body and mind rest.
