Reclaiming Your Wellness

Here we are, the week many of us set aside to reclaim our wellness, take back control of our diets and bodies, and the rededication to improving our lives. Personally, I've struggled with the craziness of the past year and I made a promise to myself that once the stress and chaos of the holidays had passed, that I would refocus my energy into my own health and mental wellness. 

I'm on this journey with you and I know it's going to be hard. But, let's jumpstart this year with positivity and courage.  We can do this!

Firefly Moments

I like to find time over the weekend to think over the week, what went right, what went wrong, and the connections I made.  It's how I set my intention for the upcoming week and make my goals for what I'd like to accomplish. 

This recently I met an inspiring woman, Lori Peck from CAASI who challenged me to think about how we talk about taboo topics like cancer, growing older, what it's like to be a woman over 40, and even the topic of cannabis. You all know I'm very open when I talk about cannabis and how much it's helped me.  But it's still a topic that many people struggle with talking about. And it was great to connect with another woman who understands that mind-body connection of wellness and stress relief. 

Firefly Moments are meant to spark conversations, spark creativity, and spark connections. 

That's why this week's topic is all about reclaiming your wellness.  

From taking time out to sip some tea on the porch with the dogs, to accepting that you need to make time for physical activities that can move you from a state of stagnating to waking up your body and feeling more alive. Reclaim your wellness and challenge yourself to do better this week.  

One day at a time, one week, one month… make the little changes that you've been putting off.

The Key To Wellness Is Learning To Take Care Of YOU!

When I think of New Year's Resolutions, I always think of what diet is going to be popular, or will work. And the truth for ME, is that I love that my body works hard every day and I would FEEL better if I made some simple changes.  But that doesn't mean going on a crazy diet.  

Let's focus more on real WELLNESS and less on being thinner. 

Use CBD To Make Working Out Less Painful

I have Fibromyalgia that goes along with my Lyme Disease. This means that the little discomforts that come along with working out, often lead to days of mind-numbing pain. For years, I resisted working out because I was afraid of the pain. 

A few months ago I discovered that by adding a few drops of CBD beverage drops, to my water bottle that I drink as I work out, helped not only to relax my muscles before the work out, but it helped before the pain set in. 

CBD fights inflammation, and used before and during a workout, it helps prevent sore muscles and for me, triggering a fibro flair.

Drink More Water

Just like our beloved houseplants, we are creatures that need a LOT of watering. I sometimes need a visual reminder that I need to drink more water.

Take More Time For Meditation and Yoga

I love yoga. It helps me relieve stress and calm my anxiety. Through breathing exercises and stretching, yoga and mediation encourages relaxation that helps to lower the levels of the stress hormones such as cortisol

You don't need expensive equipment to start practicing yoga and mediation.  But I will say, having a good padded mat that doesn't slip really does make a difference in my yoga practice.
