Should I make my own hand sanitizer or buy it?
Making your own hand sanitizer is cheaper than store bought and it can also be customized for your needs.
We are making CBD hand sanitizer, and there aren't a lot of options for that on the market right now.
This is an easy project and it takes just a couple of minutes to pour it all together. So why not?
Why CBD in hand sanitizer?
One of the most amazing and valuable properties of CBD is it's antibacterial properties for fighting germs. CBD has been shown to effectively kill bacteria and has been shown to be a super-weapon against drug-resistant superbugs.
But the reason I choose to include CBD oil in my hand sanitizer is because it is great for keeping your hands soft and healing the tiny cuts that we all get.
And it prevents the alcohol from drying your hands out.
Will hand sanitizer keep me from getting COVID-19?
The World Health Organization ( WHO) recommended hand sanitizer as a preventative measure, along with hand washing, to help prevent the spread of this virus along with the Flu.
This is not a replacement for washing your hands. But used when you aren't able to wash your hands, it can help. Hand Washing and sanitizing are great tips for keeping the virus from getting into your body. Keep your hands away from your mouth and eyes, and practice keeping a safe distance from people.
Essential Oils in Hand Sanitizer?
In addition to helping to fight against germs, we love the smell of tea tree oil. It is a great natural hand sanitizer.
Studies have shown that it kills several common bacteria and viruses responsible for causing illness, including E. coli, S. pneumoniae and H. influenzae (1Trusted Source).
In our hand sanitizer recipe we are using tea tree essential oil and CBD oil with lemon essential oils.
Ingredients
- 5-10 drops lemon CBD Tincture ( We love Joy Organics Lemon Tincture)
- 15 drops tea tree essential oil
- 1 cup rubbing alcohol ( The higher the better )
- 1/3 cup pure aloe vera gel or witch hazel
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, add your essential oils and mix.
Add alcohol and aloe vera gel, and mix.
Transfer to small clean squirt bottles. We like these leak proof travel bottles. You can also use a small spray bottle if you like your sanitizer sprayed on like I do.
Allow this to air dry and avoid touching your eyes.
