Let’s be honest. I’m 40 something, fat, unphotogenic, and I refuse to pay for a photographer to chase me around and make me look fabulous. And I’m sick of this BS social media game. Aren’t you?
Here’s the deal, I’m over trying to chase this ridiculous carrot that has been baited just over my head for the last 2 years. It’s exhausting, expensive, and unrealistic.
Every freaking day, I have some beautiful person shouting at me from Facebook videos about how they can teach you how to make my fortune if I subscribe to their course. And I have… and you know what? They all say the same damned thing… there is no magic in any of them.
Make videos! Take more photos of yourself looking fabulous and holding up a product and do that 3-5 times a day. Make lots of videos, because people don’t have the attention span to read anymore, and they want to watch TV on their phones of people doing real-life things.
I’m honest with myself here. I was not born pretty, I didn’t grow up from ugly duckling and emerge a freakin swan, and I didn’t spend money I don’t have on plastic surgery and hair products to get pretty. That’s real life.
I’ve been banging my head now for months trying to follow every carrot offered to make this work, and the reality is… I don’t know if I’m ever going to get it.
So I’m done. I’m over it, and you should be too.
Here’s what I’m offering and please feel free to tell me if this is your thing or it just isn’t.
I’m going to give you honest reviews of the products I have tried, things I love and things I hate. I’m not going to push crap just because I might make a tiny commission. Because what little commission is pushed my way isn’t enough to buy a latte at Starbucks.
Day after day, I write ads, make graphics, rewrite, and write more. And I do it for FREE. I don’t make much at all, a little around the holidays and some coffee money here and there. But the rest of this is all because I love writing and I love the creativity.
I have some great people who have been there to answer every question – like Greg from Apogee and Stephanie from Robbins Affiliates. Through them, I’ve fallen in love with great products like TruDog, Joy Organics CBD, and SwellCBD.
Dancing With Fireflies is done trying to win the influencer game.
If you follow me on Instagram, do it because you like the weird random stuff I see and take photos of.
If you follow me on Pinterest, you are going to see that I share a lot of strange things… tattoos, recipes, fat girls in dresses that I want to buy, a few weed recipes because I still believe that cannabis kicked Lyme Disease in the ass and I’m going to keep enjoying it because it helps me to live better, and probably a lot of dog stuff. Cause… you know… I love dogs.
If you want to follow me on Facebook, that’s cool. Because that’s the fastest way to actually chat with me and leave me funny messages.
Twitter is a joke. I hate it… and all that it stands for. But, I have one, and it’s also lame.
What else? Snapchat? Ha! No… I’m not 12.
LinkedIn… yeah, I actually have one, mainly because a few times I tried to be an adult. It’s adulty and boring.
I’m sure there are like 30 more social media platforms now that I don’t even know about.
Don't get scammed.
There are a lot of people out there right now trying to convince the public that you can make a huge income with blogging. Most of those are scams. Blogging isn’t a huge moneymaker, and it never will be. It’s hard work, and it isn’t for everyone.
Some of our long-time readers have seen this blog go through a lot of changes, trying to keep up with the changes we have seen in the industry in the last 8 years. Thank you all for sticking with us and letting us know what you like and what you don’t.
It’s your feedback that has helped us to grow and adapt, and sometimes like today it has helped us to see where things have gone wonky.
We want to hear what you have to say. Tell us what you like and what you don’t! I can’t promise that everyone will get what they want, but I can tell you that I do read every comment and try to respond to them each personally.
Thanks for sticking with us!

Here's what I think you should check out:
I LOVE Grammarly because as a writer, I love being able to have Grammarly installed on both my laptop and my phone. It edits all of my writing, everywhere! From Facebook, blogging, even email… Grammarly has my back.
When I was younger, I know my spelling and grammar was so much better. But as I've gotten older, I'm pretty sure I've lost some of that talent. Grammarly is my editor.
Now… if only Grammarly could be in my brain.
This post was proofread by Grammarly 🙂
