I’ve been on muscle relaxers, pain killers, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, liver support, thyroid meds, heart meds, and anti-anxiety meds. Western medicine hasn’t been able to help me. But CBD has changed my life and allowed me to live beyond my diagnosis.

CBD For Lyme Disease

I was diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease in 2003 after years of living in pain, inflammation, and brain fog. I have been on so many medications that now there is a huge fear that my liver is permanently damaged. But now I have CBD, and it is everything I needed. I am seeing my health go from scary to “improving” and my only explanation is CBD.

The primary cause of my pain is fibromyalgia. In my cause, it is a symptom of Lyme Disease. It causes constant pain that is widespread, everywhere from my toes to my head has moments of pain. It causes stiffness in my joints, my neck and back and makes walking difficult. I have an increased sensitivity to smells, lights, temperatures, and most recently noise.  My doctors have tried to help the muscle pain with physical therapy and muscle relaxers. But the pain never ends.

I’ve tried everything to try to get through the day and feel better.  I’ve done yoga, which I love but it inflames my joints, and the stiffness of my body makes it difficult.  Going to the gym in the morning exhausts me so much that I am useless for the rest of the day. Acupuncture, massage therapy, and physical therapy help, but don’t last long.

CBD To The Rescue

The only thing that I have found that helps me to get through the day and actually to be able to live a full life is CBD.

Most of the products I use are low or no THC.  I don’t want to get high or feel like I have more of a haze than the brain fog that I usually have.

Every day I use a tincture called Joy Organics Orange.  It is a 500mg strength, and it is simply a dropper full of orange CBD full-spectrum CBD oil.  I use it each morning after I brush my teeth. After using it, not only do I feel better, my teeth and gums are in better shape.

CBD Vapes

I always have a CBD vape pen somewhere.  I love my vape pens because it delivers just the right amount of CBD to relieve my pain and even some of my anxiety.

Anxiety is the worst! I’m not sure if I have anxiety genetically or from living with the super frustrating disease.  But it’s there, and it’s awful.  Now that I have my vape pens, I feel like I can go and live my life.

I have two pens that are my favorite.  My CBDFive pen is my favorite, it’s easy to use and very discrete. I have a couple of CBD pens, some have a tiny bit of THC for the evenings and days when the pain and my illness is the worst and my everyday vapes.

For CBD vape oil,I really like Alternate Vape’s Citrus CBD. It has natural terpenes and doesn’t have any PG or VG which are both terrible for you and potentially toxic.

I also keep a CBD vape from SocialCBD in my purse and one in my kitchen drawer for asthma attacks that I get from time to time.

Topically I use Relief from Ceres for my neck and joint pain. It gets down deep and helps remove the inflammation. It has willow bark, horse chestnut, turmeric, and menthol crystals.  And it packs a considerable punch to my pain. But it has a bit of a strong smell. This one has THC, so I can only get it from a dispensary.

So for my morning routine and a less odorous application, I use Royal and Pure's  Full Spectrum SBD salve. This is great for my feet and neck because it isn’t oily and has a mellow smell.

CBD honey is my newest favorite thing.  I keep them at my desk, and whenever I’m needing something sweet and something to life the afternoon brain fog, I open one up and enjoy the sweetness and relief. I LOVE the lemon flavor from Colorado Hemp Honey!

It’s also part of my bedtime routine.

At night I have capsules of CBD with Melatonin to help me sleep.  They are light and don't give me nightmares, which some prescription medications did.

My dogs even take CBD every day.  They love the treats and Wynter, who is getting older has joint pain sometimes and gets a few of Pet tincture drops to settle her pain down and help to her move better.

We know that CBD isn’t for everyone. And understand that we are in no way saying that you should use this instead of seeing your doctor because I still see my doctors all the time and talk to them about my CBD use.  And I know that not everyone can use CBD, but this is how I’m living with Lyme Disease and I hope that by talking about how I use it, that I can bring some relief to someone else out there who is also feeling terrible or maybe clear up some of the mystery around CBD use.

If you are going to try it, I highly recommend making sure you buy from a reputable company.  Look at the testing records that reputable CBD companies have available for you to look through.  We will talk more about how to read testing labels coming up soon.  But for now, we love Joy Organics CBD.

How do you use CBD?  Do you have Lyme Disease? What's your most frustrating symptom?
