I love going out to a great restaurant and sharing an amazing meal with my husband for our date night. However, there is something that often just kills the mood about driving home 30 minutes. But the best Date Nights are made right at home.

We live in rainy Seattle. Traffic, crazy weather, and frustrating parking often come with romantic evenings. And while we have some seductive restaurants here in Seattle, a perfect date night doesn't require leaving the house.

These recipes are filled with color, vitamins and plenty of aphrodisiacs for your perfect date night dinner in.

Pan-Seared Cod in White Wine Tomato Basil Sauce

Not only does this dish make my mouth water just looking at the photo by bakerbynature.com, but this dish also has key sexy ingredients sure to make your date night sizzle.

Crushed red peppers give this dish a tiny love bite.  But the peppers are hot in the bedroom too. “Chili peppers stimulate endorphins (the brain's feel-good chemicals), speed up heart rate and make you sweat, which all mimic how you feel when you're aroused, Dr. Meryl S. Rosofsky told the New York Times.”

This dish's garlic zing is rich in arginine, an amino acid imperative to bringing blood to the right areas needed for a sizzling date night. So bring the breath mints and enjoy the garlic!

Grilled Salmon with Avocado Salsa

This dish is light and flavorful, and coming to you from The Cookie Rookie.

Besides this dish being packed with Omega-3 Fatty Acids which keep your hormones in shape, this dish is topped with the sex food of the gods!

The Aztecs believed in the aphrodisiac power of the ahucatl so much that they would not allow virginal women to leave the house while they were being harvested. When Louis XIV found his aging libido in need of reviving, he turned to the exotic avocado for help, nicknaming the fruit la bonne poire (the good pear) –  Thanks PBS!

Also, Avocados are rich in Vitamin E – the Sex vitamin!

Party-Ready Oysters Recipe with Herbed Butter and Prosciutto

This dish from the Umami Girl is the traditional aphrodisiac recipe for your date night pleasure.

High in Zinc, they pep up the testosterone and slide down smoothly.  But beware, oysters are either a love them or hate them kind of food.  Hot or cold, easy or hard, you be the judge.

Dark Chocolate Panna Cotta with Fresh Blackberries

Chocolate is inarguably the sweetest touch of any date night meal. “Scientists ascribe the aphrodisiac qualities of chocolate, if any, to two chemicals it contains. One, tryptophan, is a building block of serotonin, a brain chemical involved in sexual arousal. The other, phenylethylamine, a stimulant related to amphetamine, is released in the brain when people fall in love. – NY Times “The Claim: Chocolate Is an Aphrodisiac”

This recipe by Home and Plate makes this chocolate dish not just romantic, but elegant as well.

Bourbon-Soaked Cherries

Cherries are full of vitamins, potassium, magnesium, folate, and don't forget iron.  It also has melatonin, for a good night's sleep after your date night fun.
