There is no easy cure. There is no simple plan. Living with Anxiety is difficult. But there are foods that help fight anxiety!
Living with Anxiety is like living with a weird cat, sometimes you think you have it all figured out. You have your triggers figured out, you have a routine, and then you start to get relaxed and comfortable. Then, out of nowhere, it creeps up on your and attacks your face and scares the hell out of you!
I used to be one of those people who didn't understand what exactly anxiety was, I thought it was a nervous feeling, or anxious about the stresses of life. I had lived a challenging life and I had moments of feeling stressed about it. However, I had no clue at all what an anxiety attack was until I was about 38. And even now, many years later, I am still learning about how to manage a life that feels like my world sometimes is coming to an end for no good reason.
Diet is so important in managing a healthy lifestyle. But it is even more important when your body is fighting something unseen.
We have all heard how good cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower are for us. However, did you know that they also contain glutamine, which is a natural stress fighter? Our bodies need glutamine and naturally produces it. But when our bodies are in a state of stress, the glutamine is used up. It stabilizes the immune system and strengthens the intestinal cells. You need glutamine to reduce anxiety and help your body fight stress.
Known to vegetarians, Millennials, and Hipsters across the land, avocados are magical for calming the mind, settling the nerves and healthy for your body.
When I was little, my Gram would make me avocado toast with a fresh lightly fried egg on top. She ate avocados and bananas every day to boost her potassium levels. Potassium helps to regulate the brain, heart, blood pressure, and digestive system.
But this little miracle fruit is also great for anxiety. Avocados are high in B vitamins, and perfect for fighting abnormal braves waves and anxiety. If you are low in B vitamins it can lead to severe depression.
Besides being great for the heart, dark chocolate is great for dealing with Anxiety. Chocolate helps to reduce cortisol – the stress hormone and it is powerful for improving your mood.
Did you know that eating chocolate causes the brain to produce natural opiates? These opiates calm pain and anxiety. Even more, chocolate provides N-oleoylethanolamine and N-linoleoylethanolamine – These are two cannabinoids that enhance anandamide in the brain. Anandamide is similar to THC in Marijuana, which is powerful in treating anxiety disorders. Chocolate gives you the same effects without the “high” effect. What's better than that? Chocolate with CBD!
Rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and magnesium, Salmon is an optimal food for relieving anxiety and depression. It also contains those great B vitamins and small amount of tryptophan. Again, we are talking about foods that improve the brain and lower blood pressure.
“Tryptophan is a precursor to serotonin, and serotonin, a neurotransmitter, helps you feel calm,” says San Francisco nutritionist Manuel Villacorta, RD, a spokesman for the American Dietetic Association (now known as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics).
Not only are they beautiful, but blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, cherries, acai berry, and currants are also anxiety fighters too. Mental health providers are using potent polyphenols, to treat health disorders. Blueberries have even known to boost serotonin.

That awful feeling is real and it can feel like you are dying. It's a real feeling and your body is trying to tell you what it needs.
