Full Spectrum Hemp Extract VS CBD Oil
There are so many new products claiming to be CBD or Hemp Oil, it’s hard to figure out what’s what! So we are breaking it down for you so you can figure it out. Remember, we are not giving medical advice. We just want to offer you the best information we have discovered so you can make the best choices for your health.
What is CBD?
CBD is an active chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. CBD does NOT get you high.
Hemp or Cannabis?
Cannabis is the species of plant that includes both hemp and marijuana plants. The big difference between hemp and marijuana is that hemp contains very little THC that gives you the “high” feeling and cannabis plants are bred to produce the best effect with the THC.
Hemp is legal in all 50 states.
How is CBD extracted from the cannabis plant?
Sadly, CBD is often extracted by running harsh chemicals like butane ( lighter fluid) over the raw plant material. Test are showing that some products have trace amounts of carcinogenic compounds like formaldehyde (embalming fluid ) that are toxic over time. This is why you must do your research to know exactly how the CBD is extracted when you decide on a CBD brand.
CO2 extraction (Supercritical Fluid Extraction) is the main extraction process for essential oils. The newer method of CO2 extraction is cleaner and believed in be healthier than using butane or other harsh chemicals.
Closed- Loop or Cold ethanol extraction is another method that companies are turning to, claiming to be the best and highest quality extraction method using food grade ethanol to distill the oil and separate the hemp extract from the CBD oil. CBD oils are then refined to remove any trace of THC, wax, plant pigments, chlorophyll, etc.
What is Full Spectrum CBD Oil?
Full-Spectrum CBD oil is made from hemp oils that are then refined down to remove plant materials, waxes, chlorophyll, and fatty acids and highlighting the CBD oil. Full-spectrum oils have been observed to treat anxiety, diabetes, and chronic pain.
What is CBD Isolate?
CBD isolates are refined CBD oils that are processed even more until it is a fine odorless white powder containing 99% pure cannabidiol.
CBD isolates are then used in foods, supplements, and edibles. There isn’t really a taste at all to it. This is targeted for people wanting higher CBD doses and control of exactly how many milligrams of CBD per serving.
What is Whole Plant Hemp Extract?
Whole plant hemp extract is made from the stalks and seeds of the hemp plant. The molecules of the whole plant are intact, leaving the waxes, flavonoids and also more than 100 other cannabinoids present in hemp, some of which include cannabinol (CBN), Cannabicyclol (CBL), tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) and cannabichromevarinic acid (CBCVA).
Hemp extract is full of over 140 different phytonutrients. Full spectrum hemp extract not only has natural terpenoids and cannabinoids but essential vitamins, minerals, proteins, enzymes, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids.
Scientists at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Lautenberg Center for General and Tumor Immunology have found that full spectrum whole hemp oils may magnify the natural effect in what is called the “entourage effect” which makes for a more effective result for the endocannabinoid system (ECS).
Whole plant or full spectrum hemp extracts also contain essential minerals such as Calcium, Copper, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Phosphorus, Potassium, and Zinc
