5 Things to Know about Maracuja Oil

People all across the beauty world are talking about Maracuja oil.  So I wanted to give it a try and be your test dummy to see what the hype is all about.

What is Maracuja oil?

Maracuja oil is comes from the certain varieties of Passionflower plant. The kind most people are using is unique to Brazil and the Amazon. Maracuja oil, is loaded with Vitamin C an has anti-inflammatory and skin healing properties. Maracuja oil also contains Lycopene, a carotenoid which is found in many foods, like tomatoes. Lycopene helps your skin repair itself.

Who should use it?

If you have acne, skin that has seen too many days in the sun without sunscreen, or just aging skin like mine, Maracuja oil is said to be the miracle worker because of it’s  high fatty acid called, linolenic acid.  This helps your skin to feel soft.

How does it work?

I was surprised how easy it was to use. Simply wash your face at night to remove all make-up and dirt. Then apply a few drops at various points around your face.  I had some heavy wrinkles coming on. At 44, my skin was starting to lose some of it’s stretch.

The oil is clear, doesn’t have a strong scent, and very light. So it blends in quickly and doesn’t leave an oily feel on my face. I was worried it might cause breakouts, but I was really surprised that not only did it not cause them but it also took out the normal redness of my face and seemed to calm it down.

I also love how soft my face feels when I wake up in the morning. Those fine lines have really started to fade.

Is it expensive?

Like anything, you can find this oil ranges in price from the popularity.  I got mine from Tarte and it was about $47.  However, I have seen just the oil other places as an essential oil for around $13.  If you are actually thinking of purchasing it, but aren’t sure if you want to risk the higher price for something that might not work on your skin, I’d go with the cheaper version and see if you love it before making the bigger investment.

Would I buy it again?

I normally am not a crazy beauty product kind of gal.  I’m older, not really into the latest beauty trends.  But this one really makes me feel beautiful and I love it.  I would absolutely buy it again.

But I might even go with the bigger essential bottle and give it a try in the bath, as a hair conditioner, or to heal a scar from my last surgery.
