I was talking to a friend about what a “Professional” working woman wears to work. These days a working woman’s wardrobe is very different than it was 20 years ago. But as a blogger, my wardrobe can be very different from someone who goes in to a business every day. Many think that we get to sleep in all day, work on our pajamas and then after poking around the internet, we log in to write something fantastic.
On any given day, I can be seen in anything from jeans and a t-shirt, to actually dressing up nice to go out and take my work on the road. So I thought you might want to take a peek at my work wardrobe.
As a blogger, it can be hard to get up and get dressed for the day when you know you will be spending the whole day locked down trying to edit, make new graphics, and maybe even update some old posts. But I feel like that simple act of getting up, doing my hair -even if it is in a ponytail, and even *sigh* putting on a bra, is making the efforts I need to feel like I am stepping away from a lazy house day and getting into my “day job.”
I love being able to throw on a pair of leggings, a tunic, and a few accessories and still feel like I can jump in my car and head out for a lunch date. Living here in Seattle, leggings are everywhere and I’ve learned to embrace them.
My new favorite thing, I never thought I’d ever admit to loving… sports bras!
Unlike their evil grandmothers, modern sports bras are not only softer, stretchier, and more attractive, but now they have eliminated the “Uniboob.” I remember trying my best to get wigged into sports bras of the past only to be so exhausted trying to get my breasts ready for working out, that I was then ready to go call it a day and leave.
However a friend of mine admitted to me recently that she’d given up completely on underwire bras and gone to comfortable sports bras and it had changed her whole day. After giving it a try, I am sold.
Jeans and T-shirt kinds of days
Since I live in the mountains outside of Seattle, the weather can be pretty chilly and wet. And I’m often quick to throw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I LOVE fun, quirky t-shirts that fit my style. I found a lot of really adorable t-shirts on Etsy.com.
What do you think?
Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off. – Coco Chanel
I like shoes that are comfortable, simple, and easy to get on and off when I have to.
Now that I’ve gotten older, I have come to appreciate good shoes with smart arch support and stability. Heels are nice, but for what I do. I don’t need to be uncomfortable.
I love flats and short boots. Both can go from casual to dressy with just a little adjustment. Living in a rainy area, I don’t want my feet to get damp and cold. So my go to slip ons are adorable short boots or even my rainboots.
As a writer, I don’t have to worry about wearing shoes too much, but it is nice to have a go to pair for when I work out of my home office.
Find your Own Fit
No matter if you choose to get dressed up or stay in your jammies all day, when you are in you are in your writing space, you should be comfortable. Some feel more productive when they have gotten dressed to leave the house and others know that productivity is in the mind.
