This is the time of year when the kids are trying to pack in as much fun and excitement as humanly possible. Moms and Dads are trying to figure out how to get the kids to find a routine, enjoy the last days of summer vacation, and still find time for school shopping. But as a writer this is also the time when I feel like I start to refresh my routines, get into a better cycle, and take this as a mid-year start over.
We all get really excited when January rolls around and we feel like we need to make some important changes. I like to take August and start to look back at the first part of the year and see where I can refresh and take another look at those goals. As my children have grown up, they came to expect that this was when they were given lists of things to start getting themselves ready for the new school year. Rooms were purged, clothes were sorted, and they were rewarded with a trip out for new school supplies that were sure to make them the coolest.
For all of you Readers, Dancing with Fireflies is going to be sharing some of our thoughts about routines, schedules, back to school, and how to get back into the groove after a fun summer of slacking off.
